The Kawarace Network

(National Network for the Study of Kawasaki Disease in Spain)

formally established in November 2015, with retrospective data collection from

2011–2016 and prospective enrollment continuing from 2018 to the present.

Objectives

​Kawarace was created with the following goals:

  • To establish a REDCap-based national database of patients under 16 years of agediagnosed with Kawasaki Disease (KD).

  • To analyze the epidemiology and treatment response factors in affected children.

  • To develop a predictive model to identify high-risk patients. 

  • To create national consensus guidelines for the diagnosis and treatment of KD.

While Kawarace is a national initiative, it also aims to align and integrate with the International Kawasaki Disease Consortium.

Kawarace is supported by leading Spanish pediatric societies, including:

Scope and Reach
Today, Kawarace brings together 95 hospitals and more than 188 investigators, making it the largest coordinated effort in Spain dedicated to advancing research and clinical care in Kawasaki Disease.​
